The Key Ingredient to our Perfect Party

I just discovered the perfect way to throw a memorable party: invite Lime Bartenders.  Lime Bartenders is billed as “Australia’s most entertaining mobile bartending service,” and it just might be true. What I am absolutely certain about is that Lime Bartenders turned what would have been a fine (but average) dinner party into something my guests were talking about on their way home and the next day via text and email. What made the party so cool? Lime’s unique take on preparing cocktails, serving them with fresh ingredients, and encouraging the guests to get into the festive spirit. But Lime Bartenders don’t just serve cocktails. They create a scene—an exciting atmosphere—and inject an element of theatre and interactivity into the cocktail making process. The end result is that all our guests mixed together and had a great time. Before we knew it people were perusing our customized cocktail menu, discussing the choices with one another, laughing and sometimes getting behind the bar (with expert guidance) and jumping right into the creative mix.

 

A Different Idea

First things first: A few weeks before our dinner party my partner and I were looking for something a little different. Like everyone else we’ve been to plenty of parties and even though we usually have a good time we wanted our party to be…well, special. We thought about a chef-created meal, exotic desserts, and in the end those ideas all seemed a bit “been there done that”. Then I heard about Lime Bartenders and gave them a call to see what they were all about. After a brief discussion with their Gold Coast manager I decided to give them a shot. After all, we were going to serve drinks anyway and Lime’s range of offerings and experience with varied clients assured me that we were on to something fun.
The first step was for my partner and I to sit down with an extensive cocktail menu and pick a half a dozen that we wanted featured. A few that we chose included the Mojito, the Mai Thai, and the Daiquiri among others. Next, we decided that we wanted to go with a more interactive experience instead of opting for the bottling twirling and fruit juggling flair bartenders Lime offers. From there the process proceeded smoothly and professionally with regular contact via email to answer any questions we had along the way.

 

You’re in Expert Hands

The afternoon of the party Lime pulled up on time in a snazzy vehicle wrapped in graphics that featured a giant slice of lime (of course!) splashing into a gorgeous looking cocktail. As our bartender began setting up I realized the extent of the operation. There were a lot of things that were going into this process that I’d never even thought of. Quickly I became very glad that Lime clearly knew what they were doing. Out came a portable bar, blenders, bar tools, ice tubs, 4 or 5 different kinds of glasses, fruit juice dispensers, straws, you name it…within an hour and a half we had a full service bar set up in our back yard and looking fantastic. The final touch: a couple dozen laminated drink menus (personalized with our name and message) were set out so guests could get into it from the get go.

 
 

What followed was a cocktail making show, complete with audience participation and a lot of laughter. As new arrivals joined in, there was no need for artificial “ice breakers” or introductions. People wanted a drink—naturally—and there was a crowd of happy laughing people surrounding a very classy looking bar. The party didn’t need a break-in period. It was going from the beginning, new friends were talking and joking with our regular set and it was clear we had come up with a winner. Plus, because there were kids in attendance, our bartender sprang into action producing alcohol free “mocktails” (including some for the kids who are dairy intolerant, etc.) that were full of berries and juices that made for a lot of happy kids and parents.
